FAQs

How come DeyCore charges extra for seals, why can't they just include that into the price of service?
A complete seal kit is approximately $16.00 per shock (Fox & ACT) and usually many seals don't need replacing. Expect to pay up to $35.00 per shock per seal kit for KYB/HPG if you want every seal replaced. By charging for only the seals you need, there is actually a net cost savings to the customer. DeyCore does a complete evaluation of each individual shock to assess what parts are required for a satisfactory rebuild.

How long does it take to fix my shocks?

After HayDays our shop picks up considerably. Our order of priority is:
  • Internet customers
  • Walk-in customers
  • Dealers
  • Custom shock work or non snowmobile shocks
  • Time in our shop can vary from 2-7 days depending upon demand

What will it cost to ship my shocks back to me?
Standard UPS rates apply. A private residence costs more than a business address. Overnight shipping costs significantly more than standard delivery. Shipping charges go by weight so if possible remove your springs before sending to DeyCore. If in doubt about removing springs, let us do it, do not attempt to remove an M10 rear spring without the proper tools.

Add $15.00 for any C.O.D. order.

Email/phone quotes:
Every rebuild is different. Rebuilds run the gambit from brand new (some people don't like the OEM oil) to shocks that looked like they were used in Desert Storm. The prices above are kept current. You will not be charged different than the quoted prices. Replacement parts, if required, are listed elsewhere on this web site. There are no "hidden" costs. You are not charged additional labor for shaft or eyelet replacement for example. There is no charge for "shop supplies". The only exception to this is if we quote a specific job on an hourly basis or custom shock work. Therefore we cannot give email/phone quotes on standard shock service.

How often should I change oil?
Good question with no simple answer. Just like your car motor, shock absorbers like nice clean fluid. That's the beauty of rebuildable shocks, they can be serviced or repaired many times over unlike stock sealed shocks. This means that you can get fresh oil in there to get that "like new" ride you had at one time.

So.... Everyone pretty much agrees that after the initial break in period of the shock absorber that you should have the fluid changed, and this could be anywhere from 500-1000 miles. This gets rid of all the manufacturing impurities and "break in" particles that are suspended in the oil.
Now.... It gets confusing as when the next service should be. Some people recommend having your shocks rebuilt yearly, other people recommend after every 1000 miles but in the end you will have to decide on the interval between shock rebuilds depending upon many factors such as:

  • Ride quality; fresh oil = better ride
  • The number of miles driven per year
  • The type of riding I do; i.e. snocross or trail riding
  • The hassle factor; do I like to R & R shocks?
  • Price; add up shock service, shipping, and your time
  • See DeyCore's recommended service intervals above

ATV shocks - Motorcycle Shocks - any Cross Link - Non Snowmobile Shocks - We specialize in snowmobile shocks however time permitting and depending upon application we may service these shocks. We will not quote these shocks over the phone or email. The cost to rebuild is $60 per hour, expect a minimum 2 hour labor charge + parts, the total can typically be $150 to $250. We will only give an estimate if we have the shock in hand. Expect 2-3 week turnaround. If you elect to not have it rebuilt then you are responsible for a $25 estimate and return shipping.
